Caring Ministries

'"Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me.''  Matthew 25:40

Deacons

Deacons provide compassionate care to those in need.  They visit the lonely, provide meals for church members in time of need, help with transportation, greet Sunday worshippers, send greeting cards, assist with funeral receptions, contribute to a local food pantry, and support other community organizations.  If you would like to help the Deacons provide practical Christian support, contact Ron Kilbourne, Deacon Moderator.

Faith Community Nurse

Our Faith Community Nurse, Rebecca Grice-Johnson, provides health and wellness education for our congregation.  Her outreach is varied including services such as monthly blood pressure checks, blood drives, vaccinations, home visits, and more.  Rebecca also oversees a loaner program for basic home healthcare equipment.  Two AED machines are installed at OLCCP, along with an emergency eye-wash station in Fellowship Hall.

Quilt Ministry - Room 115

Join other quilters and sewers to make patchwork "eye-spy" quilts and fleece throws for deserving children in our community.  Generally, the group meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 10:00am-3:00pm in Room 115.  Drop in to learn the process, select fabrics from the extensive selection, and visit with others.  Much of the work can also be done at home.  Contact Helene King for more information.

Prayer Shawl Knitters

Knitters meet twice a month to visit, knit, and pray for those in need of a warm reminder of God's love.  Only basic knitting (or crochet) skills are required.  The group meets at 1:00 pm on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month in the Lakeview area.  Since first picking up their needles, OLCCP knitters have provided over 670 shawls.  Contact Doreen Dutton for more information or just drop in.

Prayer Chain

OLCCP's Prayer Chain volunteers individually commit time each week to intentionally pray for specific needs within our congregation, our community, and beyond.  Contact Pastor Rich if you would like to become a member of the Prayer Chain.  There are several ways OLCCP can know to pray for you:  call the office, send a message, attend worship.

Stephen Ministry

OLCCP is a Stephen Ministries congregation, which means several of our members have completed a 50-hour training course in peer counseling, listening, and referral.  Stephen ministers meet one-on-one with care receivers to provide confidential ministry in times of struggle or transition.  Contact the office at 248-682-0730 for more information about OLCCP's Stephen Ministers.  Or visit stephenministries.org to learn about the national program.

Columbarium

The Orchard Lake Community Church Columbarium is a reverent place where the cremains of church members and their immediate families may be inurned.  Niches line the wall of the chapel which provides a quiet spot for prayer and reflection.  The large stained glass medallion was originally installed in 1874 as a gift from the family of our founders.  Today it and other contemporary stained glass windows illuminate this special space. Learn more about the Columbarium Ministry.

Columbarium Description

Lakeside Respite

Feel free to stop by our campus and sit a while by the lake.  Pray, have lunch, watch the birds and the boats.  Grab a book from the Little Free Library near the main entrance.  The shore is not open for swimming or boat launch, but all are welcome to enjoy the peace of our lakefront location.

Caring for our Facility

We are blessed to be stewards of God's house in this place.  OLCCP's dedicated Building & Grounds Team manages the ongoing maintenance of our church, some parts of which are over 150 years old.  If you have a knack for handyman tasks, have professional trade skills, or just like to rake leaves, Building & Grounds welcomes your support.
