Worship
Worship is at 10:00 am every Sunday in the Sanctuary which is on the second level
Faith Enrichment is at 9:00 am, before worship
Faith Enrichment opportunities vary. Some weeks, Pastor Rich leads a themed Bible study. Other weeks we might have a guest speaker from one of our mission partners. Whatever the topic, everyone is invited to participate, learn, visit, and have a cup of coffee as we grow in our faith together. No preregistration required, just show up. Faith Enrichment is held in Heritage Hall, room #216.

Communion is served the first Sunday of each month
All who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are invited to partake in the sacrament of holy communion. Following the pastor's blessing and invitation, we pass juice and bread while seated in the pews. Parents and grandparents can determine when their children are ready to accept communion. Periodically, we offer Extended Communion to congregants who are unable to join the worship service in person.

Summer Worship by the Lake
During the summer months, we add an early service outside, overlooking Orchard Lake, where worship is enhanced by the whisper of morning breezes. If the weather is unfavorable, both Sunday worship services will be held in the Sanctuary. Check the weekly e-blast or church calendar for specific dates of summer worship.

What to Expect

Parking and more
Our main parking lot is easily accessible from Commerce Road, on the east side of the building. You can pull up to the front entrance to drop off anyone who might need assistance by our Sunday greeters.
The Sanctuary is on level 2 via the stairs or elevator.
At the top of the stairs, you'll see a coat room and coffee bar. Feel free to grab a cup before or after the service. You may also notice many people use nametags to help us know one another, but that's totally up to you. An usher will offer you a printed bulletin at the door to the Sanctuary. Sit anywhere you like; though there are letters and numbers on our pews for special events, we don't have assigned seats.
What should I wear?
As a multi-generational congregation, OLCCP members wear everything from leisure-wear to business wear. A first-time visitor may feel most comfortable in "nice casual", but jeans and t-shirts fit right in as well. Most people hang their coats up before taking a seat in the Sanctuary.
Order of worship
Our worship service at OLCCP is fairly traditional reformed liturgy that combines group and personal prayer, scripture readings, music and group singing, and a message from the presiding pastor. The service starts with a few minutes of personal greetings and you'll be able to sign the welcome pad in the pew if you wish to share your contact information. We follow along with a printed bulletin (which doubles as a weekly newsletter) and words projected on a large screen at the front of the sanctuary. Hymnals and Bibles are available in the pews, as well.
If you came to church with a prayer on your heart, and would like to invite others to pray with you (names are not required), fill out a yellow card found in the pew rack. Ushers will walk around during the first song to collect any cards and the pastor will share the prayer requests with the congregation later in the service.

Most Sundays include a "Children's Moment" for the youngsters before they head downstairs to Sunday School. Our music is presented live, often with the accompaniment of the Chancel Choir or Chapel Handbells. A typical worship service lasts about an hour. Our service is also live-streamed via Youtube for those unable to attend in person.
Our summer lakeside worship service follows basically the same pattern.
As we are able, we stand when others stand, sit when others sit, sing even if we are tone-deaf, pray when invited, and open our hearts to the love of Christ. We welcome you to join us in celebrating God's many blessings.
Kids and grandkids
Jesus reminded the disciples to "Let the little children come to me." So too, at OLCCP, we encourage families to bring their children and grandchildren to church. All children begin worship in the Sanctuary with their families. A few minutes into the service, the young kids (up to grade 5) will be invited up front for a Children's Moment with our Director of Children and Youth. All kids are welcome, though some may prefer to watch from their seat. After the Children's Moment, children are escorted downstairs to Sunday School for the remainder of the service. As a new visitor, your child may feel more comfortable staying in the Sanctuary, or you may join your child in their classroom.
During Sunday School, the children learn about Jesus, the Bible, and how to grow their faith in an age-appropriate setting, led by trained and vetted volunteers. At the end of the service, parents are encouraged to pick up their kids promptly.
Our Nursery is open so babies and toddlers can stretch and play with you. Wifi is available, allowing you to access the livestream. You can also watch the service from just outside the Sanctuary in our Lakeview area if your kids are getting squirmy in the pew.
Older children (grades 6-12) typically stay in the Sanctuary for the worship service. The Youth Group (GLU: God Loves U) meets periodically on Sunday evenings, and for special activities. Check the latest Youth News for specific dates and details. .
After the service
Most people stick around after the service to visit and have a cup of coffee in the Lakeview area overlooking beautiful Orchard Lake. The pastor is available to chat if you'd like to say hello. Often, you'll see sign up sheets and announcements regarding upcoming activities in the life of the church. We hope you feel a spirit of love and welcome whether this is your first visit or you've worshiped at OLCCP your whole life.
Chancel Flowers
Whether we are worshipping in the sanctuary, outdoors, or even by video, fresh flowers help beautify our worship setting. Flowers can be donated for any week, in honor or memory of a loved one or some other special remembrance. After worship, donors can take the flowers home, or offer them to the Deacons who will deliver them to a church member in need of a tangible sign of God's love.
The suggested fee helps offset the cost of the flowers. Payment can be made through the church website HERE.
Video Tech Team
Each Sunday, our sanctuary worship service is live-streamed via YouTube, and scripture and song lyrics are projected in the Sanctuary. Our dedicated Video Tech Team manages the soundboard, computer, microphones, and cameras to bring worship to our larger community. If you would like to learn more and possibly join the Tech Team, contact the office at 248-682-0730.
